Social commitment

Improving the quality of life of people in our society and around the world has been a concern for ROTHENBERGER for many years.

Through our committed actions locally and around the world, we want to help provide better opportunities for people who are disadvantaged by their background, the conditions in their country or their physical and mental characteristics.

TOOLS FOR LIFE

In many parts of the world, clean drinking water, a reliable energy supply and education are still not a matter of course. Dr Helmut Rothenberger established the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation in 2008 to give as many people as possible access to these vital resources. Together with its partner organisations, the charitable foundation has since been able to implement and support a large number of humanitarian projects in many countries around the world: from the construction of sanitary facilities and sustainable energy projects to training courses for children and adults. In 2021, climate protection was added as a further purpose of the foundation. Since then, the sustainability of aid projects has been a central aspect of TOOLS FOR LIFE's support.

For the year 2024, ROTHENBERGER has received the Gold Partner Certificate for its support and commitment to the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation.

Integration no Separation

Integration is a key concern for the ROTHENBERGER Group. To this end, the "Integration no Separation" project was launched in 2021 together with the TOOLS FOR LIFE foundation. Its aim is to actively promote the integration and appreciation of people with disabilities in the workplace. ROTHENBERGER managers and employees want to set an example for the integration of all people, regardless of their gender, origin or physical impairments or special characteristics.

Help Day 2024 - Doing something good together

The third ROTHENBERGER Help Day took place on 15 June 2024 - a day on which the company once again made a commitment to the community. This year, the focus was on supporting the Anne Frank School in Kelkheim. The school, which specialises in support measures, needed help to transform its large school garden back into a usable teaching and adventure space.

The ROTHENBERGER employees actively helped with the redesign of the garden. The tasks included cutting hedges, creating a wildflower meadow and building a composter. The school garden played an important role for the pupils as it gave them the opportunity to learn practical skills and develop their creative potential.

Thanks to the active support of the ROTHENBERGER team, the school garden has once again become a place where the pupils can feel at home and develop. The motto of the day was "Together we are strong!" - and the team showed how much can be achieved through joint commitment

Cooperation with the Schlocker Foundation

At some ROTHENBERGER Group sites, integration in the workplace has already been implemented for many years. At ROTHENBERGER Werkzeuge's main site in Kelkheim, for example, the Human Resources department works closely with the Office for Disability Assistance and has supported the integration of several people with physical and mental disabilities. In 2020, another integrative project was launched together with the Schlocker Foundation in Hattersheim. This involved creating specially equipped workstations in our warehouse in Kelkheim Münster for four new employees with disabilities, who have now become an integral part of the team. The next step will be to create jobs for people with disabilities in the production area. We are working on further expanding projects like this in all ROTHENBERGER branches.

Social commitment is part of the training

Commitment to society is part of ROTHENBERGER's corporate philosophy. Taking responsibility and helping people with disabilities is also the aim of the Social Week, which is a traditional part of training at the Kelkheim site. Trainees spend a week working in social organisations and then report on their experiences. In 2023, trainees from ROTHENBERGER visited the Margarete Steiff School in Frankfurt. During the Social Week, the trainees supported children with disabilities in class.

HERO Award 2022

On 17 July, the HERO 2022 couple, Regine Prümen-Mündelein and Josef Mündelein, were guests at NORDWEST Handel AG in Dortmund. The couple have been involved in Uganda for 15 years and have been able to help many people in the country through donations and regular donations of school materials, children's shoes and medical supplies.

With the €5,000 prize money from the HERO Award, the educationalist couple can equip the first buildings of Kasana St. Jude Primary School in Luweero/Uganda with gutters, downpipes and storage tanks as part of the rainwater collection system project and start a new project on site.
